The quake
[edit]Hi Pouya,
Thanks for the good writing of the 2005 Zarand earthquake. --Behdad 22:32, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Thanx
[edit]Pouya,
I encountered the same problem with Iranian Foreign Affairs and Foreign relations of Iran pages: 2 pages existing on the same topic. I merged them by redirecting one into the other. I guess I dont still know how exactly "move" works. I'll keep working on it.--Zereshk 01:41, 2 Mar 2005 (UTC)
The Iran-Iraq war
[edit]Hi Pouya,
Khoobi? Thanx for the post you sent.
I read the first 3 chapters of that external link you posted on the Iran-Iraq war page. I found some troubling statements in chapter three that makes me question their credibility as a good source of information. I'd like to know what you think. The authors, in a very clever way, blame Iran for the war by goinbg back to the roots of the war and twisting some facts. Here are some examples I found:
"On November 30, 1971, the day before the British left the Gulf, the Shah seized three strategic islands in the lower Gulf which were owned by the UAE." Page 7
"It is important to note that the fact Iraq invaded Iran is not prima facie evidence of aggressive intent or guilt for the war. The creation of a contingency capability to invade Iran cannot, under the circumstances, be regarded as a premeditated effort to either invade or dominate Iran." Page 16. It wasnt premeditated? I wonder what saddam then meant by annexing Khuzestan to Iran before the war.
"is also important to note that Saddam Hussein publicly accepted the first UN call for a cease-fire (UN Resolution 479) as early as September 28, 1980, and proposed a cease-fire of his own when Iran rejected the UN proposal." page 16. which is a total twist of the facts. Of course Iran would not agree to a ceasfire in which it had lost territory. The authors are exploiting the fact that most people dont know what a ceasfire in a war really means. See here: [1]
"The "Persianization" of Khuzistan had also had considerable success". page 3. Persianization of Khuzestan, which implies to the reader that huzestan never belonged to Iran in the first place.
"Iran had had half a century to "Persianize" the area and a strong incentive to do so". page2
"When the Treaty of Lausanne establish Iraq as a state in 1923, it paid no attention to the issue of "Arabistan" at all. The entire area was assumed to be part of Persia". page2. As if it wasnt. I wonder how these people are going to explain the hundreds of historical sites we have there from the Sassanid era.
"To all intensive purposes, the Abide Emirate and "Arabistan" then became part of Persia." page2.
"Something approach a separate "Arabistan" did exist in southwest Iran between roughly 1690 and 1923". page 2. Aside from the poor grammar mistakes you see in this chapter, I have to say that before this "Arabistan" we had a Persian emirate there.
"In 1924, he [Reza Khan] put down all Arab resistance in "Arabistan" and changed the name to Khuzistan". page 2. Are they ignoring or oblivious to the fact that an ancient non-semitic dialect called "Khuzi" was spoken there ages ago?
"While the two nations could not initially agree on a settlement, a coup in Iraq in 1936 created a weaker Iraqi government, and one that was more willing to negotiate". page 6. This implies that if Iraq signed any treaties with Iran before the Iran-Iraq war, it was because it was weak and was forced to, hence losing legitimacy. That's a good example of how history becomes revised. It in effect is putting the blame of the war on Iran.
"The average Shi'ite cleric did relatively well under the Ba'ath regime". page 4

[edit]I hope it's not an unwarranted intrusion, but I couldn't help but notice that your bookmarks page showed up on the naming conventions category. I took the liberty of editting this to [[:Category:Wikipedia naming conventions]], which I'm guessing is what was intended. Alai 06:28, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Iran-stub
[edit]Hi - over at Wikipedia: WikiProject Stub sorting we've just discovered a new stub template which you created ({{Iran-stub}}. As it says on many Wikipedia stub-related pages, stub templates should be created after proposal and debate at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Criteria, so as to ensure that new templates are not adequately covered by other templates, meet stub guidelines, and are likely to be of viable size (60-100 stubs minimum). The new stub template has been added to the list of newly discovered templates at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Criteria#Iran-stub, and to the list of stub templates at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types.
Though this stub probably needs little justification (it is likely to be a well-populated category), if you wish to create any further stub templates, please contact us first!
By the way, you will probably find a large number of stubs that could be reclassified with the new template in Category:Middle East-related stubs Grutness...wha? 01:38, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
Pouya, it would be much appreciated if you could help out over at Ahvaz. User:Zora has vandalised the article by deleting chunks of valid information and keeps reverting to her version. She hasn't touched the Khuzestan article yet, but who knows. If you have the time, check out the respective discussions for background info on this absurdity. Dahanam service kadeh. The succession box templates allow for a cohesive style that someone that is both a president of Iran and some other office holder can be added together. Therefore I am going to start transferring pages using this template to the succession box and then put this up for deletion. I just wanted to inform you of my intentions. gren 19:58, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Persians
[edit]The user Aucaman has been vandalizing Persian people, as well as several other Iran-related articles, claiming that "modern Persians are mix of Arabs and Mongols" editing the article, or adding a dispute tag, based on his own personal assumptions and conclusions without any valid source to support such outrageous revisionist theory. If you have an opinion on this topic, please join the Talk:Persian_people, so we can reach a consensus for the removal of the "dispute tag". --ManiF 18:37, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
